Behind the Gates of Central Park

Harvey Kopel is the Chairman Emeritus of Sierra Photo New York, a sub-group of the nationally known Sierra Club, as well as an officially certified Central Park Tour Guide. He leads a breathtaking photography workshop through hidden pathways that uncover iconic landmarks, waterways, and wildlife as he points out architectural structures, elements, and art forms that Central Park creators, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, applied while converting this rocky, marshy, wasteland into a large ever-changing work of landscape art. With or without a camera, Harvey rouses your enjoyment of this outdoor masterpiece. The adventure begins at the park’s historic restaurant, the Loeb Boathouse

Wall Street Walk - New York City History

We convene at the oldest building in Manhattan, Fraunces Tavern Museum, where George Washington bid farewell to his officers in 1776, while licensed Tour Guide and Preservationist Julia Ryan leads an animated discussion on the history of New York City. Next, we walk down narrow streets of former canals followed by pathways where 17th to 19th century architectural structures are positioned side by side affording breathtaking panoramas and dramatic details.
